Technical problems?
What's up with the timelines? Were there technical problems? Robin (talk) 03:52, 13 December 2013 (GMT)
- Yes. The u'grade to 1.22 broke it. Also disabled the collapsible functionality of the sidebar menus while the page is loaded. I have various feelers/queries out but no joy yet. Another user reports no problems with 1.22 (You'll need to manually scroll over halfway down the page to get to the threaded section of the discussion grrr). That has me wondering if it is connected with the SMW u/grade to 1.8 which required schema changes and subsequent use of "Data Store 2". Those changes produced site disabling errors. Documentation advises to keep upgrade but revert to use of "Data Store 1" until resolved. That is current state of the system.
- I have a couple of Indian programmers trying to improve the current timeline format implementation, but frankly doubt they'll succeed. In any event it is not currently supported and so risks being broken regularly with u/gs. I would like to use a new timeline format, see here here and here, but the author has become non-responsive and the current implementation breaks whilst contacting the Google api, see here and here. I've put a lot of time into this because I feel timelines have potential to attract serious site interest - but so far all stalled - VERY frustrating indeed. --Peter P (talk) 08:40, 13 December 2013 (GMT)
