Shiva Ayyadurai, (Dr Shiva) is an Indian-American engineer, politician and entrepreneur. Ayyadurai holds four degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), including a Ph.D. in biological engineering, and is a Fulbright grant recipient.[1] He is the inventor of one of the earliest IT based messaging system which he tried to patent by the name: "E-Mail". He dissents with corporate founded science on many topics and is therefore called a "conspiracy theorist", or: 'promoter of "conspiracy theories", pseudoscience and unfounded medical claims', as Wikipedia writes.
As a 14 year old in 1978, he created a computer program which was an electronic version of an interoffice mail system. He named the program “EMAIL” and applied for a copyright as software patents were not granted at that time in the U.S. In 1982 he received the first U.S. Copyright for that software, officially recognizing him as The Inventor of Email. While some organizations recognized his invention, he never received wide-spread recognition as the inventor of email.[2]
