East Timor's Permanent Representative to the UN

Since independence from Indonesia in 2002 Timor-Leste (East Timor) has been heavily dependent on Australia.

Sofia Borges (possibly also Australian citizenship) was Permanent Representative of Timor-Leste to the UN 2010 - 2016. Her diplomatic career in the UN system is especially involved in the implementation of the Agenda 2030. She attended Event 201, the infamous dress rehearsal for COVID-19.

Milena Pires Representative 2016-2021 went into exile in Australia when Pires was nine years old, during the Indonesian occupation of East Timor. She is also possibly a dual Australian/Timorese citizen.

The Representative from 2021, Karlito Nunes, previously served as Senior Programme Manager for Democracy and Governance at the International Republican Institute[1], one of the main components of the US regime change organization National Endowment for Democracy.
