Hamish Alexander Badenoch is a British banker who is married to Leader of the Conservative Party and Leader of the Opposition Kemi Badenoch. They have three children.[1]

Background

For the past 14 years, Badenoch has worked at Deutsche Bank and is currently the global head of “future of work and real estate transformation”.[2]

Before that he worked overseas as a journalist in Malawi, a consultant in Nigeria and as the CEO of Avis car hire in Kenya.

He was educated at Ampleforth College, a Catholic boarding school run by monks, before attending Cambridge University.

After a brief stint as a director of investment, Badenoch began working at Barclays before moving on to Deutsche Bank.

Scottish womble

Badenoch's unusual surname dates back to a Scottish Gaelic heritage, although he was born in Wimbledon.

Local councillor

Hamish Badenoch, too, has won elections for the Tories - albeit at a lower level. He was a Conservative councillor from 2014 to 2018 at Merton Council.[3]
