Catholic Flemish/Belgian university of applied sciences from 1925 to 2013

The Economic Hogeschool Sint-Aloysius (EHSAL) was a Catholic Flemish university of applied sciences from 1925 to 2013. It was named after the Spanish Jesuit and Saint Aloysius Gonzaga (1568-1591). It was the first school specialized in economic training in Flanders. There were only 2 courses: commercial sciences and commercial engineering. In 2002, the institution merged with the IRIS Hogeschool Brussel and the Katholieke Hogeschool Brussel. The name EHSAL was then kept, but from then on it was only used as an acronym. Since 2013, academic courses have been organized by the University of Leuven on its Brussels campus. The professional bachelors remained with the HUB-EHSAL university of applied sciences, which merged that year with KAHO Sint-Lieven to form the Odisee university of applied sciences.[1]
