Icons design

I like it. Maybe sorted on icon (page type) also it leaves a lot of white space; needed for the current talk page layout at bottom but otherwise not. Solutions - back to 50/50; bigger type; another column ...? In any event I think it would be good to keep this and older designs readily available for use and/or further tweeking. --Peter P (talk) 11:18, 19 September 2014 (IST)

I think the big whitespace will be an advantage on small screen devices, though I'm agreed it is a drawback for large screens. Since it's calculated using SMW we probably could include a range of information such as page size, modification time, stub status etc. I think we could probably use some analysis about use cases in order to try to work out priorities for pages/information to include - first time browsers, regular viewers, editors all have different priorities. I just added more columns to make use of the whitespace. Note that it completely ignores the template: namespace - since they are not objects. I suggest this is actually a feature, not a bug - since most people are not interested in templates, and people who are will know to look at Special:RecentChanges. Ideas

I like the idea of having a tabstrip at the top, with All/Events/People/Groups/etc. available as tabs, so the most recent of each object class are available without having to scroll up/down - i.e. just by clicking along left to right. Robin (talk) 12:18, 19 September 2014 (IST)

I wonder about 'click to sort by column' - might be fiddly to program. Robin (talk) 20:56, 29 September 2014 (IST)

Rough Edges

  • It's all using the SMWObjects, so pages without these objects will not appear. Since all new page in main: namespace and document: namespace should have one, this is only a problem for some pages; talk pages are listed with the older system (Template:Main-panel2) and (most) Wikispooks pages appear due to a rather messy hack, which is not as intuitive or robust as I'd like.
