Richard Levernier is a US whistleblower.
Activities
After 9/11 Levernier noted that the US nuclear power industry had no suitable plans to counter "suicide terrorism" and he notified superiors of this fact in the U.S. Department of Energy. In response, they withdrew his security clearance and assigned him to clerical work. Levernier approached the United States Office of Special Counsel (OSC), which handles US federal whistleblower matters. It took the OSC four years to vindicate Levernier, ruling that the department's retaliation was illegal – but since his security clearance was not reinstated, he was unable to regain work in nuclear security.[1][2]
