Per-Erik Lönnfors is a Finnish journalist and business manager.
Career
Lönnfors began his career as an editor at the Swedish-speaking Finnish newspaper Hufvudstadsbladet in 1958–1960 and did a degrre in economics in 1969. After a period working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – including as press attache in Washington, DC 1970–1973 – he returned to the newspaper as managing director 1973–1982. He was Hufvudstadsbladet's deputy editor-in-chief in 1982–1984 and then in 1985–1995 worked as editor-in-chief and managing director of the Finnish News Agency.
About the turbulent time at Hufvudstadsbladet, Lönnfors wrote the attention-grabbing debate book Mannerheimvägen 18 (1986), which provides images of intrigue and militancy in the Finnish-Swedish newspaper house. He uses his experiences both as an economist and a journalist in the analysis Save the world, burn the books in economics (1999). He has not received any awards or scholarships from Finnish-Swedish institutions.
