Sir Arthur Temple Franks (known as Dick Franks) was Chief of the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) from 1978 to 1981, and deputy from 1977 to 1978.[1]
Career
A former Special Operations Executive officer, Franks joined MI6 in 1949. He was seconded to the British Middle East Office as part of the preparations for the 1953 Iranian coup.[2] Franks headed the MI6 station in the country following the restoration of relations in December.[3]
