Charles Leiber was a Harvard University Lecturer sentenced in Boston on April 26 2023 for lying about his affiliation with Wuhan University of Technology and China's Thousand Talents Program. He was also indicted for filing false tax returns.

He was the Chair of Harvard University's Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department and was sentenced to two days in prison with two years of supervised release and six months of home confinement, a fine of $50,000, $63,000 in restitution to the IRS. The government had recommended 90 days prison and a $150,000 fine.

Lieber headed the Lieber Research Group at Harvard which conducted more than $15million research sponsored by various US government agencies including the Dept. of Defense and the National Institute of Health. He became a "Strategic Scientist" at the Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) and got a contract with China's Thousand Talents Plan which was designed to "attract recruit and cultivate high-level scientific talent in furtherance of China's scientific development, economic prosperity and national security."
