Background
Philip Martin earned a Ph.D. in Labor and Agricultural Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1975.
Career
He is Professor of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California-Davis and chair of the University of California's Comparative Immigration and Integration Program; he earned UCD's Distinguished Public Service award. He worked on labor and immigration issues for President Jimmy Carter. In 2005, he became the UN Special Representative for Migrant Workers.
