Ben-Veniste was a member (2002) of the 9-11/Commission. He was asked why, if Mohammad Atta belonged to the fundamentalist Muslim group, he snorted cocaine and frequented strip bars? Ben-Veniste's reply, as he smiled a little, was to make no comment, simply acknowledging "You know, that's a heck of a question."[2]
