The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) supervises banks and insures deposits
As of May 1, 2017, the FDIC provided deposit insurance at 5,844 institutions.
Fraud
Chip Tatum and his wife were fined $115,000 for defrauding the FDIC. Their appeal was denied in 1998.[1]
