In 2001 it emerged that "Bill Clinton's brother-in-law received nearly $400,000 for lobbying for a pardon and a prison commutation [for Carlos Vignali] that the former president granted on his last day in office, legal sources told The Associated Press. The money was returned Wednesday at the Clintons' request."[1]
