Vivienne Cox is a British businesswoman, chairman of the supervisory board of Vallourec, the French multinational steel components company. She has a "wide experience of business gained in the energy, natural resources extraction and publishing sectors. She also has a deep understanding of regulatory organisations and government."[1]

Career

Cox was born in 1959[2] and worked for BP,the oil and gas multinational, for almost three decades[3] before being named as chairperson of the supervisory board of Vallourec, a French multinational steel components company. She is also a non-executive director of Pearson PLC and a commissioner at the UK's Airports Commission.[3][4]

She previously served on the board of Britain’s Department for International Development.

Since July 2016, Cox has been a non-executive director of GlaxoSmithKline.[5] In July 2018, she became the first Chair of the Rosalind Franklin Institute.[6]

She is an Advisory Board Member of the African Leadership Institute (guess what sort of leaders the oil executive wants to promote) and Vice President of the Energy Institute.[1]

Honours

Cox was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2016 New Year Honours for services to the economy and sustainability.[7]
