Hi Richard, welcome to Wikispooks. Having read your brief intro I thought I'd let you know a few observations about how society relates to kids here in Bangladesh. Compared to UK culture, there is much less awareness/fear/paranoia about child abuse (though I'm expecting it to rise as effort is being expended in that direction, just one aspect of a huge 'development' initiative). People strike me as a lot more natural in relating to children - e.g. in restaraunts, waiters feel free to pick up and play with kids etc. In the home, it is normal for the whole family to share a single bed, and Bangladeshis view it as weird that anyone might let their baby sleep alone - only one aspect of a general ethos of ''self''- rather than ''system''-reliance.
