Born in Czechoslovakia. Graduated in Sinology at the Department of Oriental Studies, Leningrad State University. Studied the history of Chinese Language at Beijing University. Employed at the Institute of East Asian Studies, he taught a wide range of subjects, mainly the Grammar of Modern and Classical Chinese, Theoretical Grammar of Chinese, History of the Chinese Language, History of Chinese Philosophy. Cooperated with the University of Vienna, teaching Classical Chinese. From 2010-2011, he based at Beijing University as a visiting Professor. Has been living in China, Russia and India.
