The right to a fair trial was widely accepted by people the world over in the late 20th century as an important legal principle. This is no longer the case, because of fearmongering about "terrorists", for whom legal principles are being set aside.

Abrogation
The "war on terror" has seen the purported right to a fair trial eroded or completely abandoned in many countries.
UK
"Suspected terrorists" in the UK may now be subjected to secret trials. Statistics about how many people have been affected by such secret trials are understandably scare.
