The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is the largest broadcasting organisation in the world.[1] The BBC is an autonomous 'public service broadcaster' [1] that operates under a Royal Charter. Within the UK, it is funded principally by an annual television licence fee, which is charged to all United Kingdom households, companies and organisations using any type of equipment to record and/or receive live television broadcasts. The level of the fee is set annually by the UK Government and agreed by Parliament. The BBC's main responsibility under its charter is to provide 'public service broadcasting' within the United Kingdom, Channel Islands and Isle of Man. Its global headquarters are located in London.
