Franz J. Klein was a German business leader [1] and at the time of his death, the head of Hamburgs division of the German Hotel and Restaurant Association.[2][3] He was a vocal lockdown critic [4] and under his leadership the association threatened a lawsuit before the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany.[5][6]

Together with Thomas Oppermann and Mario Ohoven, he was one of three high placed, outspoken lockdown critics, who all died within a 30 day window at the end of 2020.[7][8]
