Activities

Engel was convicted to serve 5 years and 3 months in prison. The court has deemed it proven that the 28-year-old formed a criminal organization. The group attacked numerous people with hammers over the years, among them a sewage worker who wore a hat from the wrong brand. Nonetheless the sentence was suspended.

Nancy Faeser, the German minister of interior, who wrote for the organization Union of Persecutees of the Nazi Regime (which uses the label "anti-fascism" as a cover for broader activities), cautioned that the spiral of radicalization and violence must not continue to turn. "Our security authorities are closely monitoring the violent left-extremist scene and will continue to act consistently".
