Marcell Rene “Gooch” Gough was killed in the Congo during the "Congo Crisis" while serving with the CIA. Rene worked closely with fellow Navy SEAL Jim Hawes [1] in the Congo and were close friends. Many years later the CIA finally confirmed Rene was working for the CIA when he was killed while serving in the Congolese Operation. In 2016 his son received a phone call from the CIA Director John Brennan to confirm that his father was CIA and would be the recipient of the 84th star on the CIA Wall of Honor[2].
