| It’s time for a new kind of political party. One that belongs to you. | |
Your Party is the working name for a new political party founded in the United Kingdom in July 2025 by Independent Alliance MPs Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana.[1]
Your Party was registered with the Electoral Commission on 30 September 2025. Jeremy Corbyn was registered as Leader, Adnan Hussain is Nominating Officer and Dr Marion Roberts is Treasurer.[2]
Ricky Tomlinson posted on X:
- They have to put someone as Leader to register but the official leader will be decided in the first YourParty conference in Liverpool in November.[3]

CEC election
Your Party is scheduled to hold a Central Executive Committee (CEC) election on 26 February 2026 to elect 24 seats in total. Eighteen are ‘ordinary member’ seats, with each English region electing two representatives, at least one of which must be a woman. Scotland and Wales get one seat each for a representative, and according to the Your Party website, members in Scotland and Wales are in the process of “establishing their own autonomous structures and will democratically decide how they relate to the UK party”. Four seats will be elected for public office holders (MPs, mayors, councillors etc) from among the whole membership.
Jeremy Corbyn is standing for The Many slate of candidates[4] and Zarah Sultana is standing as a candidate on the rival Grassroots Left slate.[5] Candidates independent of either slate who can muster 75 endorsements by YP members are also eligible to stand for election to the CEC.
Ballot papers are expected to be issued for the CEC election on 9 February 2026 with results announced several weeks later.[6]
"It's going to be fun"
Announcing plans to form a new party, Corbyn and Sultana vowed to fight injustices such as child poverty, giant corporations making "a fortune from rising bills" and the government saying "there is no money for the poor, but billions for war". Corbyn said:
- "The Labour Party is a very top-down, highly centralised party that is full of control freaks who want to control whatever goes on within the party...
- "This is going to be community-led, community-based, grassroots-led, this is going to be very different, and you know what? It's going to be fun."[7]
Statement by Your Party
The system is rigged.[8]
- The system is rigged when 4.5 million children live in poverty in the sixth richest country in the world. The system is rigged when giant corporations make a fortune from rising bills. The system is rigged when this government says there is no money for the poor, but billions for war.
- We cannot accept these injustices – and neither should you.
- We will only fix the crises in our society with a mass redistribution of wealth and power. That means taxing the very richest in our society. That means an NHS free of privatisation and bringing energy, water, rail and mail into public ownership. That means investing in a massive council-house building programme. That means standing up to fossil fuel giants putting their profits before our planet.
- Meanwhile, millions of people are horrified by the government’s shameful complicity in genocide. We believe in the radical idea that all human life has equal value. That is why we defend the right to protest for Palestine. That is why we demand an end to all arms sales to Israel. And that is why we will carry on campaigning for the only path to peace: a free and independent Palestine.
- Our movement is made up of people of all faiths and none. The great dividers want you to think that the problems in our society are caused by migrants or refugees. They’re not. They are caused by an economic system that protects the interests of corporations and billionaires. It is ordinary people who create the wealth – and it is ordinary people who have the power to put it back where it belongs.
- It’s time for a new kind of political party. One that is rooted in our communities, trade unions and social movements. One that builds power in all regions and nations. One that belongs to you.
- Sign up at www.yourparty.uk to be part of the founding process, leading to an inaugural conference. At this conference, you will decide the party’s direction, the model of leadership and the policies that are needed to transform society. That is how we can build a democratic movement that take on the rich and powerful - and win.
- Real change is coming.

Founding principle: anti-Zionism
| 'People are hungry for anti-Zionism' |
On 25 August 2025, speaking on The Crispin Flintoff Show, Jackie Walker responded to an interview with Jeremy Corbyn on Middle East Eye by delivering a passionate call for the new left to speak openly and unapologetically about anti-Zionism.
Reflecting on Zarah Sultana’s declaration - 'I’m an anti-Zionist' - and the pressures faced under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, Walker argued that the electorate is not only ready for an anti-Zionist politics, they are desperate for it.
With Gaza under bombardment and mainstream parties moving further right, she insisted the movement must reject vague labels and embrace clear, radical principles.
For Jackie Walker, only a bottom-up, democratic party rooted in anti-Zionism can inspire hope and resist the smears that silenced Corbyn.[9]
Beware proscription
A commentator on YouTube warned:
- Yes Jackie, 'People are hungry for anti-Zionism' and Zarah Sultana has rightly declared herself an anti-Zionist.
- But to make anti-Zionism the founding principle of 'Your Party', the corollary of which is support for the state of Palestine, risks proscription of the party as a terrorist organisation by Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper.
- That is why Jeremy Corbyn has struck a cautionary note, and certainly not because he is in any way pro-Zionist.
- If you want 'Your Party' to be proscribed by the Zionist Starmer government (about to hand a £2 billion contract to Elbit Systems to train British troops) then proceed with that founding principle, Jackie.[10]
Time for a different approach
On 30 October 2025, in an article published by Counterfire, Michael Lavalette referred to "the latest in a depressingly long list of conflicts at the top of YP being fought out in public," and called for a different approach so as to avoid a "grave danger of collapse, or being reduced to a small rump left-wing electorally focused minor party. Urgent action is needed to change direction and make YP the kind of party we need," he said.[11]

And please, don’t call it 'The Left' or 'Workers Party'. 'Reform' would have been good, but apparently someone else got that. |
