Lobby group of war-mongerers complaining about "persistently inadequate defense budgets".

The Vandenberg Coalition is a militarist lobby group of deep state operatives complaining about "persistently inadequate defense budgets".[1]

Own words

"The Coalition ensures that members of Congress, candidates for government office, the American people, and the press have a common, credible and fact-based source of information on defense and foreign policy, clear resources to answer their questions on upcoming priorities, and a network of future leaders committed to American leadership in the world."[2]

Name

The group is named after the late Senator Arthur Vandenberg of Michigan.[2] In the late 1930s, British intelligence used a honeytrap to make Vandenberg change his views from isolationism into an "internationalist" supporting weapons to the UK and US entry into the world war.[3]

Wars

The coalition supports US wars everywhere, and then some[4].

In 2025 the coalition co-rote The Day After A Plan for Gaza, as a joint project with Jewish Institute for National Security of America, recommending a trust should be created and supported by "a handful of states that accept Israel’s role in the region" and should " focus on a long-term program for deradicalizing the media, schools, and mosques" including "efforts to limit the influence of foreign owned media that consistently distort reporting".[5][6]

Funding

The Vandenberg Coalition is funded by money from individuals, foundations, and businesses. The Vandenberg Coalition does not disclose its donors, but according to Influencewatch tax filings confirm donations from the National Philanthropic Trust ($665,000 in 2021),[7] the Weiser Family Foundation ($100,000 in 2021),[8] and the George E. Seay III Foundation ($50,000 in 2022).[9]
