Because the name is so common, this is actually 5 different David Johnson's! David Johnson (WEF 2011) - paper executive; David Johnson (Simpsonwood) big pharma; David C. Johnson (Marshall Scholar) University of Oxford David Johnson (Rhodes Scholar/1923) - Milner group etc; and finally David Lawther Johnson Rhodes Scholar/1974, now a lawyer. Well spotted! I ought to have been suspicious of such a diverse grab bag of connections! I like the idea of just being able to write "{{disambiguation}}" and having it make a page like the one I made manually, one that includes new references as they crop up, and lists all the links to the page as well, so they can be disambiguated. This obviously requires specifying exactly who should appear, which is doable if we adopt a rigid standard for names. For example, [TITLE] NAME1 NAME2 NAME3 ...NAMElast (Disambiguator) (it already uses this sort of logic for sort ordering). Given such a standard, the disambiguation template on page "XXX YYY" should include everyone with NAME1=XXX, NAMElast=YYY. However, SMW has some limitations and I'm not yet certain that it could also include pages that have not been created yet. If it can't then that would limit its usefulness. -- Robin (talk) 02:50, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
