Richard Eric Pound is a spook who was CIA Chief of Station four times and Chief of Base once.[1]
Education
He studied history at DePauw University 1968-72 and at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign 1972-76.[2]
Career
He joined the Central Intelligence Agency in 1976 and retired from the CIA after nearly 34 years in 2009. 18 of those years were overseas, on eight foreign tours. He was Chief of Station four times, Chief of Base once, and commanded two major components at Headquarters.
Indicating were he worked, likely several postings in the Africa Division, he speaks Swahili, French and German.[1]
He was posted in Togo in 1987[3]
He was Chief of Station in Greece 2002-2005.
Later activities
After retirement from CIA he went to Raytheon for a year and a half. In November 2011 he became Vice President position at Strategic Intelligence Group (SIG).[2]
He was one of the 50 endorsed Gina Haspel's appointment as CIA director in 2018[4].
