The Global March To Gaza (GM2G) is a coalition of unions, solidarity movements, and international human rights organisations from over 32 countries which plans for thousands of people to enter the Gaza Strip on foot in response to the catastrophic humanitarian conditions endured by its population under an Israeli siege that has lasted nearly 20 months.
Saif Abu Kishk, president of the International Coalition Against Israeli Occupation, stated the GM2G aims to stop the genocide being carried out by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), deliver immediate humanitarian aid, and pressure for the total lifting of the blockade.[1]

Route and logistics
GM2G participants were scheduled to gather in Cairo starting 12 June 2025, then head to the city of al-Arish in the northern Sinai and proceed on foot for about 50 kilometres to the Rafah border crossing with the Gaza Strip. The coalition divided marchers into regional groups to overcome language and logistical barriers, and planned to camp at the Rafah crossing as a form of peaceful pressure to open the border and let aid through. “If Gazans can survive months without food or medicine, we can handle the desert road to support them,” said Abu Kishk.
Organisers have contacted Egyptian embassies and officially requested cooperation from the Egyptian government, emphasising support for Egypt’s stated efforts to stop the genocide.
GM2G seeks to unblock 3,000 aid trucks stranded at the border. Abu Kishk said these supplies—food, medicine, and fuel—are vital to preventing mass death from starvation in Gaza.
GM2G also coordinates with groups like the Sumud Convoy and the Freedom Flotilla Coalition.
Karen Moynihan, spokesperson for the Irish delegation, clarified that the initiative does not blame Egypt but seeks cooperation to intensify pressure on Israel. She added that the goal is to hold Israel accountable for deliberately starving over two million people and to confront global complicity.
This effort followed Israel’s controversial decision to allow a private company to deliver aid in the Gaza Strip—an approach rejected by the UN for failing to meet humanitarian needs and for tying aid to political and military agendas.
Objectives of the March
According to the organisers, the GM2G's main goals include:
Stop the Genocide
Collective, practical action to halt ongoing Israeli crimes, especially the use of starvation as a weapon and the systematic killing of children.
Immediate Humanitarian Aid Access
Demand for direct and urgent entry of food, medical supplies, and essentials through the Rafah crossing, where thousands of trucks have been stuck at the border.
End the Siege
Call for the unconditional opening of a stable humanitarian corridor and removal of restrictions preventing access to food, clean water, fuel, and medicine.
Mobilise International Opinion
Unite civil societies across countries to expose war crimes, pressure governments, and engage global media in supporting justice and Palestinian human rights.
Accountability for War Crimes
Call for legal and ethical accountability for all parties contributing to or complicit in violations against the Palestinian people.
Solidarity as a Principle
German lawyer Melanie Schweizer explained that this peaceful initiative also sends symbolic messages of international solidarity, aiming to:
- Represent civil societies of the participating countries.
- Involve unions, rights organisations, medical and humanitarian sectors, and individuals from all backgrounds to amplify the voice of global civil society.
- Emphasise the nonviolent and voluntary nature of the GM2G — no government backing, and participants self-fund their journey.[2]
