Activist group that campaigns to end Israel's Gaza blockade

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) is an activist group that campaigns on and off the water to end Israel's Gaza blockade, and for freedom of movement for all Palestinians.[1]

The FFC organises annual blockade-busting aid-carrying vessels that are routinely intercepted by the Israeli Navy and taken to the port of Ashdod.[2] The aid is unloaded there and the crew, amongst whom are celebrities such as Greta Thunberg, are then deported to their home countries.[3]

The FFC's latest aid-carrying vessel on its way to Gaza is the Handala (registry name Navaren). The Handala's journey can be tracked here.[4]

Illegally boarded

On 27 July 2025, Craig Murray posted on X:

"The Handala @GazaFFlotilla is the second vessel flying the Red Ensign to be illegally boarded by Israel while Starmer and Lammy do nothing.
"It shows yet again their slavish devotion is to Israel, not to the UK."

Commentator: "The next ship should be called, 'Britannia Rules The Waves'.”[5]

Of course it failed. Is the problem incompetence, or is it again security service influence?"
