Text versus Screenshot

Hi Robin,

Thank you for uploading the screenshot.

I had intended to use the following text from the referenced Guardian article:

"The decision to arrest was made at a joint executive liaison group involving police and MI5. Searches by police at two sites were still ongoing on Wednesday, four days after the arrests at gunpoint.

"Ken McCallum, the head of MI5, said in October that Iran had been behind 'plot after plot' in the UK and that the Security Service had uncovered five new planned attacks last year, taking the total since January 2022 to 20."

Stylistically, which do you think is better?--Patrick Haseldine (talk) 21:11, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Good question - and one that might be worth adding to the Document editing policy

Here's the image or comparison's sake:

Optically, I prefer the image, but of course as regards linking or searching, the text is superior. I think either is acceptable. Given the importance of the yellow highlighting to the original text, and the fact that there's no compelling reason to add a link from that text, I think I prefer the image in this case. -- Robin (talk) 22:20, 12 May 2025 (UTC)

Looking at the two side by side, I notice:

  1. The text version has one " character too many;
  2. A highlighted version, bold in large Times font face could give us the best of both worlds, since Template:Hilite is available. In general, the above considerations still apply. -- Robin (talk) 22:34, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
I agree (I think)!--Patrick Haseldine (talk) 07:52, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
