Activities
In 2024, the station reportedly included 12 main officers, in addition to others with different specialties, including recruiting and managing agents, under the leadership of station chief Sherry Baker. The station's focus also undergone major changes over the past decade."[1]
Lebanese officials told the newspaper Al-Akhbar that the content of the contacts with Lebanese security officials "focuses on gathering information and assessments not about the possibility of Western interests in Lebanon being directly threatened, but rather what Westerners are more interested in is obtaining the assessments and data of the official Lebanese agencies about the leadership situation in Hezbollah after the assassination of the party's Secretary-General, the martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, and seeking to gather information about the changes that have occurred in the leadership situation and the military structure."[1]
The Agency was also about to support operations targeting or assassinating the non-military body in Hezbollah. American intelligence had a direct role in the attempt to assassinate Wafiq Safa, who manages the Hezbollah's relationships in Lebanese politics.[1]
