Buckinghamshire is a ceremonial county in South East England.
Rothschilds
The Rothschild family had begun to acquire vast tracts of land in Buckinghamshire in the 19th century, on which they built a series of large mansions from 1852 onwards.
Peter Mandelson opined to Jeffrey Epstein even in 2009 that the "Rothschilds seem to own large part of Bucks".[1]
Country Houses
- Waddesdon Manor. Owned by the National Trust and managed by the Rothschild Foundation, it is one of the National Trust's most visited properties.
- Ascott House, acquired by Baron Mayer Amschel de Rothschild in 1873. Baron Mayer gave the house at Ascott to his nephew Leopold de Rothschild. The last resident of the house was Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, who died in 2022.
- Cliveden House, the stately home in Buckinghamshire of Nancy Astor and for which is named the Cliveden Set, a deep state faction which supported "appeasing" Adolf Hitler in the 1930s.
- West Wycombe Park, An 18th-century Palladian mansion set in a perfectly landscaped park, built by Sir Francis Dashwood, founder of the notorious Hellfire Club.
- Hughenden Manor, the Victorian country home of the former Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli.
- Turville Park, owned by David Sainsbury. When he was made a life peer in 1997, he chose the title Baron Sainsbury of Turville, of Turville in the County of Buckinghamshire.
- Burford Priory, a grand Grade I listed estate in Burford, owned by Matthew Freud (PR mogul and great-grandson of Sigmund Freud) and his former wife, Elisabeth Murdoch (daughter of Rupert Murdoch). is legendary parties at Burford Priory famously brought together politicians (like David Cameron and George Osborne), media titans, and celebrities. David Cameron was MP for Witney from 2001 to 2016.
- Champneys Tring estate in Hertfordshire (near the Buckinghamshire border). Jimmy Savile was a long-time personal friend of Stephen Purdew and his late mother, Dorothy Purdew. He was a frequent guest at the luxury spa resort.
- Turville Grange, Henry Ford II, the grandson of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford and CEO of the company for over 30 years, purchased the estate in 1974 following the divorce of its previous owners, Princess Lee Bouvier Radziwill (sister of Jackie Kennedy), whose daughter in law, Carole Radziwill, is in Jeffrey Epstein's black book. and Prince Stanislas Radziwill. During Henry Ford II’s lifetime (he died in 1987) and that of his third wife, Kathleen DuRoss Ford (who passed away in 2020), the house remained a center for high-society entertaining. Guests ranged from Hollywood stars like Michael Caine and Liza Minnelli to British royalty and industrial titans.[2]
