The Austrian People's Party (German: Österreichische Volkspartei, ÖVP) is a Christian-democratic and liberal-conservative political party in Austria. Along with the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPD), it is one of the country's two traditional major parties.
History
During the Cold War and beyond it ran a patronage system, sharing the spoils of positions and government contracts with its duopoly partner the Social Democratic Party of Austria.

In October 2021, ÖVP Cancellor Sebastian Kurz was toppled in a deep state operation on "corruption charges".
