Andriy Volodymyrovych Parubiy was a Ukrainian politician who co-founded the Social-National Party of Ukraine in 1991, and was one of the organizers of the Maidan snipers in 2014.

Life

A longstanding, outspoken ultranationalist, in 1991 he cofounded the openly Neo-Nazi Social-Nationalist Party - later rebranded Svoboda - and 1998-2004 ran its paramilitary wing, Patriot of Ukraine.

Parubiy was a key figure in the US-orchestrated 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2014 Maidan coup.

After the coup, Parubiy was appointed National Security and Defense Council chief, overseeing the launch and execution of Ukraine"'s "Anti-Terrorist Operation", a brutal repression against the country' s Russian-speaking population.

Maidan snipers

According to DD Geopolitics: Parubiy at the Maidan when, during the 2014 coup, "unknown snipers" were carrying weapons out of the "Ukraine" hotel located opposite Maidan Nezalezhnosti.

Death

Parubiy was shot and killed in Lviv on 30 August, 2025.
