The 2025 Manchester synagogue attack took place around 09:00 hours BST on Thursday 2 October 2025.
Greater Manchester Police were called to the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, on Middleton Road, Crumpsall, at 09:31 by a member of the public, stating he had witnessed a car being driven towards members of the public, and one man had been stabbed.[1]

Reactions
Prime Minister
Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he was "appalled" by the attack.
"The fact that this has taken place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more horrific.
"My thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services and all the first responders."
He called a meeting of the government's emergency Cabinet Office Briefing Rooms (COBR) in London, which he was flying home early from a European summit in Denmark to chair.
King Charles
King Charles III said he and the Queen were
"Deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the horrific attack in Manchester, especially on such a significant day for the Jewish community."[2]
Israeli government
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the “barbaric attack” on a British synagogue on Thursday, saying that “weakness in the face of terrorism only brings more terrorism. Only strength and unity can defeat it.”
Israeli Foreign Minister, Gideon Sa'ar, accused the UK of failing to act against antisemitism in his response to the attack in Manchester, which killed two people.[3]
Downing Street protests
Later on Thursday, thousands of people descended on Downing Street to protest over the Labour government’s inaction over Israel’s illegal assault on the Global Sumud Flotilla, and its kidnapping of those on board. However, things quickly turned ugly as the Metropolitan Police unleashed violence on the assembled demonstrators.[4]
