The Vatican City (also known as the Holy See) is generally regarded as the smallest nation state.[1] It hosts the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church.

COVID-19

By July 14, 2021, the Vatican City was one of only 3 nation states in the world (the others being Tajikistan and Turkmenistan) to mandate COVID-19 vaccination for all adults.[2]

Bones

In July 2019, thousands of unidentified bones were discovered following a tip off.[3]

Global relationships

The Holy See holds "Observer" status with the United Nations, and contributed USD $20,000 to the United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund from 2006-2022.[4]

Importance

It hosts the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church and associated organisations such as the Vatican Bank, which Forbes termed the "The Most Secret Bank In the World".[5]

As they say in South America, "When the CIA goes to church, it doesn't go to pray."
