Tom Johnstone was a manager at the Wallenberg sphere manufacturing company[1] SKF from 2003 until 2015. He attended the 2008 Bilderberg conference.

Background

Johnstone was born in 1955 in Glasgow, Scotland.[2]

Johnstone is a graduate of the University of Glasgow, where he received a Master of Arts degree.

Career

He joined SKF in 1977 as a salesman in SKF's UK subsidiary, became head of SKF's second largest division, the Automotive division, in 1996, and became vice president of the group in 1999. He was president and CEO of SKF from 1 January 2003[3][4] until 1 January 2015 when he retired from the SKF group.[5]

In 2008, Tom Johnstone was awarded the Order of the Polar Star by the rank of Commander for his efforts for Sweden and Swedish interests.[6] on new year's Day 2015, the British Queen appointed Johnstone Commander of the Order of the British Empire, (CBE). He was elected in 2015 as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Tom Johnstone is married, has three children and lives in Gothenburg.[7]
