Consistency

The title of this, by the usual meaning of '/' would mean "Elite of Family". I have heard the phrase "elite family", but I wonder whether we could come up with a less overtone laden, more objective one?... - If so, it would facilitate classification, and possibly have less connotations. -- Robin (talk) 17:15, 11 April 2023 (UTC)

I thought it make sense to separate. If "Family/Elite" is not properly used, then please reverse - but the distinction still makes sense. The meaning of "elite family" is just immediately there, as in clear to the reader, if you can come up with something that is neutral and still descriptive I'm all for it. -- Sunvalley (talk) 19:57, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
The word "elite" conveys to me privilege, whether de facto or de jure, which applies to these examples, but it is also used for the most inherently capable of a population, which is an unwanted connotation from a non-eugenicist perspective. If we are going to stick with this title, "elite", a step in the right direction would be to use |so_called=1 and say that a family is "elite" when a bunch of people declare it as such, c.f. "terrorism". This is a bit of a cop out, but I don't have a replacement term to offer so far.
Actually, do we need an adjective to separate these - they are all the families we have pages for, aren't they? If we have no "non-elite" families, then this page doesn't actually separate them from other families, just from the concept of family; one solution therefore could be to revert back to just declaring them as "family", at least until the page starts to look too crowded. -- Robin (talk) 15:12, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
