Dissident lawyer who was involved with the Corona Investigative Committee, now accused of theft.

Reiner Fuellmich is a lawyer and was the spokesperson for the Corona Investigative Committee (Stiftung Corona-Ausschuss) in Germany. In 2020, Fuellmich and his colleagues started to document violations of law, medical malpractice and scientific fraud, as they relate to the Covid-19 epidemic.[1] He also was one of the founders of the political party Basis, campaigning on freedom and civil rights.[2]

In September 2022 he was accused by his colleagues to have misappropriated funds for the committee.[3][4][5]

In October 2023 he entered the Germany embassy in Mexico, whereupon he was deported to Germany and was arrested.[6][7] There had been an arrest warrant for him in Germany since March and a European arrest warrant since May.[8] Immediately, photos with the handcuffed defendant were circulated in corporate media.[9][10]

Education

Fuellmich studied law at the Georg-August University of Göttingen and as an exchange student at the University of California in Los Angeles.

Career

He then worked as a research assistant to the chair of Erwin Deutsch at the Law Faculty of the Georg-August University of Göttingen, where he received his doctorate. This was followed by positions in corporate banking at Deutsche Bank in Germany and Japan.[11] In 1993, he founded his own law firm. Fuellmich has published various articles and books in the fields of banking law, medical law and international medical law, and has held other teaching positions as a lecturer at universities in Germany and Estonia. He is also licensed to practice law in California and a member of the German-American, and the German-Japanese lawyers association.[12]

In 2009, Fuellmich's law firm was ranked among the top 20 investor protection law firms in Germany,[13] especially since 1996 as a specialist for injured parties of so-called junk real estate.[14]

Corona Committee

The Corona Committee was founded in mid-2020 by Reiner Fuellmich, Viviane Fischer, Antonia Fischer and Justus Hoffmann, as an online video podcast to discuss the legal issues that arose during the corona crisis with scientific experts in live sessions. The intention was to introduce alternative opinions to the official corona policy, which was perceived as problematic, into the public discourse. The persons involved were be committed to the principles of scientific evidence and conduct a factual discussion without personal, scientific and economic conflicts of interest.[15] The podcast interviews, which were held both in English and German, soon reached a wide audience.

Accusation of misappropriation of funds

On September 2, 2022, Viviane Fischer announced that the committee, for the time being, would not continue the work with Reiner Fuellmich for reasons that were not given at that point.[16] In an interview soon thereafter Fuellmich said that he and the committee may continue the work separately, without giving any further details.[17]

The complaint against Fuellmich was filed by the lawyers Justus Hoffman and Antonia Fischer, two co-founders of the Corona Committee, as well as a lawyer belonging to the same firm, Marcel Templin, who acted as witnesses for the alleged crimes of the accused. In addition, the third co-founder of the Corona committee, lawyer Viviane Fischer, was a witness.

Fischer, in a video that was released on 21st September, clarified that Fuellmich had misappropriated funds for the Committee; (about 1.3 million is missing) ~650.000 € has been paid out to him contrary to the charter of the Committee, 700.000 € as a liquid reserve is not accessible [18] and he became guarded during attempts to clear up the situation.[19][20]

The committee details further developments on their webpage.[21]

Trial

At the beginning of April 2024, his defense lawyer Dr. Christoph Miseré submitted an intelligence dossier from August 24, 2021, which had been leaked to him. The dossier includes the recommendation to implement the

recruitment and involvement of trusted persons from the closest environment of Reiner Fuellmich. This is intended to gain deeper insights into planned activities, structures, and potential threat scenarios.[22]

An analysis should be carried out in order to assess the possibilities of a declaration of incompatibility, which would simply deny Fuellmich the holding of political offices due to proven anti-democratic tendencies. The initiation of criminal procedural measures on the basis of all the evidence against Reiner Fuellmich must be prepared. This includes cooperation with the public prosecutor's office and the preparation of charges in the event of demonstrable violations of the law. If necessary, necessary constructions must be considered and suitable third parties recruited. The activities of Reiner Fuellmich represent a complex challenge for the security authorities, which require a coordinated and multifaceted response. The implementation of the recommended measures should help to prevent its political viability and to protect the security and democratic values of the Federal Republic of Germany.[23]

Miseré pointed out that the proceeds from the sale of Fuellmich's house are apparently illegally in the possession of the complainant Marcel Templin, who acts as witnesses for the alleged crimes of the accused: "They killed two birds with one stone", neither Fuellmich nor the unwanted Corona committee can now dispose of the money", and he added that Templin was working in an environment where there were people who work with the Federal Police and intelligence services.[24]

Scientology?

In 1999 a short documetary was produced for a public broadcaster (ZDF) in Germany, linking him to Scientology.[25] A local court in Hamburg ruled that the documentary can not be disseminated anymore for, accorrding to Fuellmich, it's 'brazen lies and distortions of facts'. He writes:[26]

"My law firm was at the forefront of legal action against these banks at the time. We won several lawsuits, and due to the consistently positive media coverage, HypoBank in particular came under increasing pressure. We received documents from whistleblowers from the bank and later also from Deutsche Bank, which proved that these banks of course knew that they were financing at double and triple the true value, and that they were also aware that it was advertised to our clients that the properties had full value.

In the end, HypoBank came under such severe pressure that it had to reach an agreement with several thousand of the clients we represented in so-called mediation proceedings.

The broadcast of the report was part of a campaign against me and several other lawyers."

  18. https://2020news.de/reloaded/hello-world/ - Reiner Fuellmich has cut off the Corona Investigative Committee from its financial resources. It is about € 700,000 retained liquidity reserve and at least € 656,000 in unreconciled chancery invoices without traceable activity. In addition, it is about blocked gold. According to the articles of association, the committee members were not allowed to receive any benefits. With this blog, I would like to keep you informed about the steps to recover the funds from Reiner Fuellmich and create further transparency with regard to the Corona Investigative Committee.
