Pierre Liotard-Vogt was a French entrepreneur and President of the multinational corporation Nestlé. He was the son of Alfred Liotard-Vogt, CEO and director of the same company.[1]
Background
He is the son of Alfred Liotard-Vogt, CEO and director of the Nestlé Group and Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Co, and Enrica Cerasoli; the grandson of Gustave Liotard-Vogt, Attorney General and first Honorary President of the Court of Accounts.
He graduated from HEC Paris in 1931.
Career
He joined the Nestlé group in 1933, where he held various management positions.
In 1967, he joined the group's board of directors, of which he became managing director from 1968 to 1975 and chairman from 1973 to 1982. Under his leadership, Nestlé invested in Vittel andL'Oréal, which were among the Nestlé's most successful investments. He became a director of these companies.
Pierre Liotard-Vogt was one of the most influential and highest paid executives in Europe. At his family castle in France, the Château de Nailly he entertained his hunting friends, including former French President François Mitterrand.
Privately, he was very involved in the French Center for Child Protection (Centre Français de Protection de l'Enfance,), in which he financed through his foundation, the "Pierre Liotard-Vogt Association". The Foundation is today directed by his son, Bertrand Liotard-Vogt and his grandson Patrick Liotard-Vogt (president of ASmallWorld). Honors
He was made an officer of the Legion of Honor in 1959 and honorary citizen of the city of Vevey in 1976.
Marriage
In 1944 he married Jacqueline Gallay (1905-1999) daughter of Robert Gallay, co-founder and first secretary general of the International Tennis Federation, and Abeille Villard-Gallay.
