Patrick J. Sullivan was the former sheriff of Arapahoe County CO (1984-2002).[1] During his time in Colorado law enforcement, he gained national prominence as a strict lawman on issues such as narcotics, and enjoyed relationships with presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton among other prominent individuals. His agency was notably involved in thwarting an assassination attempt on Bush Sr. during his 1992 campaign, for which Sullivan was part of the security detail, and investigating the 1999 Columbine school shooting, in which he helped to bury a statement by one of his deputies indicating that victim Daniel Rohrbough was shot by a perpetrator other than Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

In 2011, Sullivan was busted in an undercover meth-for-sex sting operation conducted by the very law enforcement agency he worked for. He was sentenced in 2012 for offering underage boys drugs in exchange for sex.[2][3][4][5] Sullivan died in May 2021.[6]
