Ontario is Canada's most populous province, with over 1/3 the country's population. It is the second-largest province by area.
COVID-19
The Progressive Conservative government has enacted lockdowns during COVID-19. Premier Doug Ford has punished his caucus members who have dissented.
- Randy Hillier was removed from his party in 2019. Since then, he has become an outspoken anti lockdown activist.
- Belinda Karahalios was ejected from caucus in July 2020 for voting against Bill 195, which allows the provincial government to extend emergency powers for up to two years without consulting the legislature, and now sits as a member of the New Blue Party of Ontario, which is led by her husband, Jim Karahalios.[1]
- Rick Nicholls was kicked out of his party in 2021 for vaccine hesitancy.[2]
- On 1 October 2021, Lindsey Park was removed from caucus after she "misrepresented her vaccination status".[3]
