Nadhim Zahawi is an Iraqi-born British Conservative Party politician who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Stratford-on-Avon since the 2010 General Election. He has maintained contact with his native Kurdistan Region of Iraq throughout his career and currently chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Kurdistan.[1]

Nadhim Zahawi is of Kurdish origin and moved from Iraq to the UK in his childhood.[2]
Business career
Nadhim Zahawi read Chemical Engineering at University College London before going on to have a successful career in business whichr includes the roles of European Marketing Director for Smith & Brooks Ltd, and co-founder and former CEO of YouGov the international market research firm which was listed on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market in 2005.
Gulf Keystone Petroleum
Nadhim Zahawi has held a number of advisory roles in the Oil and Gas sector, joining Gulf Keystone Petroleum Limited as Chief Strategy Officer in August 2015.[3] The Kurdish government granted Gulf Keystone Petroleum the licence for 75% of oil production in the Sharikam oilfield in Northern Iraq which is one of the largest oil fields discovered in the last 50 years. In 2015, over 45 thousand barrels of crude oil were produced on a daily basis and Gulf Keystone Petroleum estimate the Sharikan oilfield has a shelf life of 80 to 100 years.[4]
