Corporations or businesses that sell some product to people in transaction for other objects of worth

Corporations sell commercial products; products people want to trade for something of their worth.[1]

Origin

Although people before the rise of cities were already trading everything... the creation of money and slaves created proper large scale markets and corporations starting around the 1300s.[2]

Function

"Runaway corporate power has become so unchained that “outside” campaign spending by influence groups often exceeds the spending of the candidates. Worse, our current Supreme Court allows spending to be anonymous, depriving Americans of basic information to do their job as citizens at election-time".[3]

Consolidation

Corporate Consolidation: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

As money has become increasingly important, and has the power to change mass scale daily societies, certain corporations have been seized by individuals this site links as deep state operatives.
