Marsh & McLennan is a company which was literally hit on 11 September 2001.
On 9/11 the corporation held offices on eight floors of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, from 93 to 100. Everybody present in the offices at the time of the attack died, and the firm lost 295 employees and 63 contractors.
At least two Bush relatives are connected with Marsh & McLennan:
- Craig Stapleton (husband of George H. W. Bush's first cousin Dorothy), his first cousin Jim Pierson (who rescheduled a meeting away from the building that morning);
- Prescott Bush Jr. - a consultant for a Marsh & McLennan company, Johnson and Higgins.
