Supposed perpetrator of John Lennon/Assassination
The convicted but probable controlled patsy killer of John Lennon.

Mark David Chapman (born 10 May 1955) was convicted for the murder of John Lennon on 8 December 1980. The court found that Chapman fired 5 shots at Lennon outside The Dakota apartment building in New York City, hitting him four times in his back. Jose_Sanjenis_Perdomo, the doorman of the Dakota and key organiser of Operation 40 spoke to Chapman after the shots were fired, but before the police arrived. Chapman remained at the scene reading J. D. Salinger's novel The Catcher in the Rye until the police arrived and arrested him. Chapman repeatedly said that the novel was his statement.
