Kim Leadbeater is a British politician who stood as the Labour Party's candidate in the 2021 Batley and Spen by-election on 1 July 2021.[1] In seeking the nomination for the by-election, the sister of murdered MP Jo Cox said she would be honoured to represent her 'extraordinary, vibrant' home.[2]

Result
Labour candidate Kim Leadbeater was elected with 13,296 votes. Conservative candidate Ryan Stephenson came second with 12,973 votes and former Labour and Respect MP George Galloway came third with 8,264 votes.[3]

Kim started her career in sales and went on to work in education, lecturing in physical activity, health & wellbeing at colleges in Bradford and Dewsbury. She is also a self-employed wellbeing coach and personal trainer, with a passion for people. Since Jo’s death she has devoted much of her time to creating a positive legacy for her sister and has worked tirelessly to create as much positive energy and action from Jo's horrific murder. Through her work in Yorkshire and across the UK, she champions the importance of strong compassionate communities, where everyone has a sense of identity and belonging, inspired by Jo’s words in her first speech to parliament when she said: "we have far more in common than that which divides us.” Kim has lived in the constituency of Batley & Spen all her life.[4]
