John David Podesta Jr. (born January 8, 1949) is an American political consultant who served as White House Chief of Staff to President Bill Clinton from 1998 to 2001 and Counselor to President Barack Obama from 2014 to 2015. Before that, he served in the Clinton Administration as White House Staff Secretary from 1993 to 1995 and White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations from 1997 to 1998. Podesta also owns a major lobbying firm, the Podesta Group with his brother Tony Podesta.

His leaked emails, made public by Wikileaks, were the basis of suspicion of his involvement in a vast organized child sex ring called "pizzagate", among many other suspicions.

Career

He is the former president, and now Chair and Counselor, of the Center for American Progress (CAP), a think tank in Washington, D.C., as well as a Visiting Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center and was chairman of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

FBI Criticism

John Podesta wrote in an op-ed in the Washington Post in December 2016 that "Something is deeply broken at the FBI", prompting an open letter 3 days later in response from Who What Why which charged that "though Incompetent, FBI is America’s Secret Police".
