The China lobby

The bipartisan Congressional Taiwan Caucus (House Caucus) is the second largest Congressional Member Organization in the United States Congress with 139 members. The caucus focuses exclusively on improving American–Taiwanese relations. Its counterpart in the Senate is the Senate Taiwan Caucus.

It is a continuation of the influential, anti-communist China Lobby which totally dominated the United States policy towards China from during WW2 until at least the 1970s.

It is connected to the Formosan Association for Public Affairs (FAPA) a Washington, D.C.-based organization that seeks to build worldwide support for Taiwan independence. Its name "Formosan" refers to Taiwan's historical name of Formosa. FAPA provides US policymakers, the media, scholars and the general public with information (propaganda) on issues related to Taiwan, as well as inform and update Members of Congress and their staff on Taiwanese issues.[1]. It also wants to "promote peace and security for Taiwan", meaning US military aid and guarantees.
