Austrian business executive also working in the United States.

Dr Franz Jorg Leibenfrost was an Austrian industrial manager. He attended the 1979 Bilderberg conference when he worked for Semperit, a big Austrian rubber manufacturer, both as CEO of the parent company and as CEO of its U.S. branch, Semperit of America.

Education

After graduating from the Salzburg Realgymnasium, Leibenfrost studied law at the University of Vienna and at Oxford University. He also graduated from INSEAD (European Institute for Management) at Fontainebleau.

Career

From 1964 to 1974 Leibenfrost worked for BASF in the USA. In 1974 he became a member of the Management Board of Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG in Vienna, and in 1979 he moved to Semperit AG, also in Vienna, as Chairman of the Management Board. The company markets industrial rubber products such as conveyor belting, hoses and specialized items, as well as tires.[1]

From 1989 to 1992 he was CEO of Veitscher Magnesitewerke AG, Vienna.

In November 1992, Leibenfrost succeeded Paul J. Greineder as CEO of Löwenbräu AG, Munich, and thus took on a difficult task, since the renowned brewery had slipped deep into the red in the 1991/1992 financial year after having failed to establish itself in the Greek market.[2] He quit in 1997 when the company merged with another brewery[3]
