Felice Casson was the Italian judge whose determination to get to the bottom of the Peteano bombing exposed Operation Gladio, the Europe wide deep state network of teams trained to carry out assassinations and bombings.
Exposure of Operation Gladio
In 1984 judge Felice Casson reopened the case of a car bomb in Peteano in 1972 and uncovered a series of anomalies in the original investigation.
In 1990 he gained access to the archives of the Italian secret service.
Casson managed to show that although it had been attributed to the communist Red Brigades, the Peteano bomb was in fact the work of a right wing organization called Ordine Nuovo, a member of which Vincenzo Vinciguerra was arrested and charged and confessed to planting the bomb. Casson's investigation also revealed that the bombing was only one of a long series of bombings begun at Christmas 1969, the most well-known of which, the Piazza Fontane in Milan, killed 16 and injured 80. The bombing campaign culminated on 2 August 1980 with a massive bomb in the waiting room of Bologna railway station which killed 85 and injured 200.
